The Morning Light

One November morning, I stepped outside with the idea of capturing the morning light. I gathered my art supplies and made my way to a lovely little coffee shop in town, where the view was calm and peaceful. The wind was gentle, just enough to be refreshing, and I found it quite pleasing.

I ordered my coffee, but instead of sitting inside, I decided to sit by the river, a little away from the hustle and bustle, just to enjoy the quiet. I’d brought some new materials with me — a special pigment used for making lipstick. It was a subtle shade, much softer than the vibrant watercolours I usually use. It didn’t move quite as actively on the page, so it was a bit of an experiment for me.

As I was playing with this new pigment, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the river. The sun was rising, just high enough to create this beautiful effect on the water. The way the light reflected off the surface, combined with the gentle breeze — it almost felt like the water and the wind were dancing together. It was such a beautiful moment, and I felt really lucky to just sit there, observing and letting my curiosity take over.

It was such a joy to just sit there, take it all in, and let my curiosity flow. Sometimes, it’s not about rushing through work, but about taking a moment to really be present and appreciate the world around.
